Built on the latest electronic circuitry using state-of-the-art components, the IPS3 is designed for performance and reliability. Optimised for the latest Cryofree® magnets found in our Proteox® and TeslatronPT Plus systems, we have ensured that the IPS3 design will also be backwards-compatible to our vast installed base, with compatibility to our wide range of both "wet" and "dry" superconducting magnets as we continue to implement specific use cases. The IPS3 delivers the magnetic field stability and precision setting of previous iPS generations, enhanced by fully new componentry and firmware.
In common with previous models, the IPS3 is specifically designed for superconducting magnet operation. The IPS3 delivers full four-quadrant ±120 A, ±5 V output performance that drives all Quantum Design Oxford standard magnets, in a single, compact 2U (87 mm, 3.5") height, 19" width rack-mountable format.
Multiple IPS3 units can be connected in parallel via SFP/SFP+ optical cables for seamless multi-axis vector magnet operation. For higher current and higher inductance magnets, typically in the 16 to 20 Tesla range such as Quantum Design Oxford's unique 20 Tesla Integra system, two units may be parallel-connected for performance up to ±240 A, ±10 V.
In addition to front-panel control via a multi-function Navigation Switch set and an intuitive full-colour display, remote communication is enabled via an autosensing Ethernet socket, also located on the front panel for ease of access. The IPS3 is compatible with Quantum Design Oxford's DECS system control and measurement software.

The IPS3 manages safe quench modes, an important feature of our previous magnet power supply generations, built on Quantum Design Oxford's unique quench management experience accumulated from decades of superconducting magnet design.
Simultaneously with this exciting new product introduction, Quantum Design Oxford is announcing the retirement of the entire Mercury range of electronics, comprising the MercuryiPS superconducting magnet power supply, MercuryiTC temperature controller, and accessory cards. Temperature control will now be provided to our primary systems by the highly respected and well-known Lake Shore Model 346 controller. To ensure support to our installed base, replacement Mercury units will continue to be available through Quantum Design's Service channels.
