Why Architect? Features OQC Lucy Quantum Machines OPX1000
Quantum Design Oxford - Architect platform - developed by Quantum Design Oxford in partnership with Oxford Quantum Circuits (OQC) and Quantum Machines

The world's first fully open-stack, open-architecture training platform that gives hands-on access to a real 8-qubit quantum computer

Architect

Build the Quantum Workforce of Tomorrow, Today.

The Architect platform, developed by Quantum Design Oxford in partnership with Oxford Quantum Circuits (OQC) and Quantum Machines, is an open-stack quantum computer training platform that democratises access to real quantum hardware by offering technical colleges, universities, research labs, and enterprise R&D teams the opportunity of hands-on, technical training.

Architect empowers users to gain both theoretical and practical quantum skills. With its open-stack design, Architect offers unique opportunities for workforce development and accessible, flexible training tools to meet the increasing demand for a skilled workforce to support quantum computing and help bridge the quantum skills gap.

Why Architect?

Users can not only run qubit calibrations and setups, but uniquely to Architect can also gain specific hardware experience that will enable them to install, maintain and troubleshoot the quantum computers of the future.

  • Bridge the Skills Gap:  Move beyond "Algorithm-only" training. Prepare a workforce for the physical realities of cryogenics, RF electronics, and vacuum systems.
  • End-to-End Learning:  From room temperature to 10 mK. Students gain the practical experience needed to install, maintain, and troubleshoot quantum systems.
  • Modular & Future-Proof:  The underlying Proteox® cryogenic platform features its side-loading Secondary Insert that allows for rapid hardware iteration without decommissioning the entire fridge.

Platform Features & Technology Specs

Architect integrates Quantum Design Oxford's ProteoxMX dilution refrigerator, OQC's proven Lucy Gen2 8-qubit quantum processor and Quantum Machines' OPX1000 high-density hybrid control platform.

It provides a fully open-stack design, allowing users to experiment with the whole quantum computing stack - not just algorithms - offering flexibility for training on everything from validating QPU control wiring, setting up and cooling the dilution fridge, to executing quantum circuits on a real QPU – a true end-to-end experience.

The ProteoxMX dilution refrigerator is core to the open-stack, open-architecture approach with its unique side-loading Secondary Insert allowing QPU wiring to be installed and tested off-system, offering a new level of flexibility in learning and making Architect the premier solution for technical training. Multiple Secondary Inserts can be worked on using, for example, different RF coax wiring types.

Complete Flexibility in Your Hands

Want to add a different QPU? Architect enables that via its open-stack architecture. The Proteox design allows for a Secondary Insert fully-wired for the Lucy GEN2 QPU to be seamlessly swapped for a Secondary Insert with wiring for a second QPU type.

Want to upgrade the Quantum Machines OPX1000 controller for more channels? The OPX1000 is fully scalable and upgradeable.
